Region Events

Over the weekend, we had several Castle Hill players competing in regional events.

On Saturday, Helen Hope, Joy McCrossen and Margaret Ras played in the semi-final of the Senior Ladies Triples, narrowly going down to a strong Wenty Leagues side 15–21.

On Sunday, Warren Whyte competed in the semi-final of the Open Reserve Singles, going down 15–25 to Gabriel Ingersoll from Dundas. In the other half of the draw, Gary Watson edged out John Cunningham from North Ryde RSL in a tight 25–23 game. Gary then progressed to the final and had an awesome battle with the young Gabriel, unfortunately, his run came to an end 23–25. A massive achievement from Gary and all our Castle Hill Chargers!

In addition, on Sunday, a couple of our members represented the Region against Metro South-East at Guildford Bowling Club. Andrew Weaver and William Harkins held their own in tight battles - Andrew and the Over 40s side came away with a 62–42 victory across the three rinks, while William and the Open side fought out a thrilling 63-all draw!

In other regional selection news, we’ve got five players selected to represent Metro North-West in the John Smith OAM Shield at Bateau Bay later this month (29–30 November). Congratulations to Gerard Harkins, Paul Hodkinson, Roger Newman, and Steve Vanderveer selected in the Senior Squad, and William Harkins selected in the Open Squad. Go well, lads!

Christmas Gift

This year we’re excited to launch our very first Christmas Gift Competition, a points-based event running during our Saturday Socials from 22nd November to 20th December.

Points will be awarded for participation each week, as well as for wins throughout the competition. The Saturday Social format will remain the same, but the start time will shift to 12:00 pm, finishing at 3:00 pm with the bell.

There will be be prize money up for grabs at the end of the five weeks, proudly sponsored by Stabilise Physiotherapy!

On the final Saturday, the BAC will host a short presentation, with light refreshments and a drink over the bar to celebrate a fantastic year and wrap up the competition in style.
