Dear Bowls Members,
As we embark on an exciting new chapter for the Bowling Club, with the installation of artificial turf and a roof structure for Green 1, and floodlighting on Green 2, we are pleased to update members on the plans and answer some questions regarding the project and what to expect during construction.
Minor works around the Greens commenced on Monday March 17th, in preparation for the start of construction. Construction will commence on Wednesday 2nd April.
It will take approximately 6 months to complete construction works, provided there are no unexpected causes for delay, such as inclement weather.
Bowls play will continue with minimal disruption. While there may be occasional construction noise, and major steel works that may require the closure of Green 2, we have planned to complete all major works on Mondays (where possible) to minimise the down time. We will work closely with contractors to keep bowlers informed of any potential impacts.
Club access and parking
There will be no impact on parking at the rear of the Club. Approximately three disabled parking spaces on Castle Street will remain available, as well as some spots at the rear of the Club, with club access made available via a new path at the rear of the Club, leading along the driveway, around to the front entrance. A drop off zone will also be established adjacent to Green 2.
Green access
To access the green in play, members will need to follow the footpath along Castle Street. There will be no access via the walkways along the greens, between the clubhouse and the green in play. Accessibility ramps are currently being installed and will be available once construction begins.
We are looking forward to the start of this project and the exciting opportunities it will bring to the Bowling Club.
Please note that during construction works, safety will always remain our number one priority, therefore access and egress may change to accommodate construction needs.
If you have any further questions please reach out to the Bowls Coordinator, William Harkins, or the Bowls Advisory Committee, who will pass them on to CHRG Management.
Thank you for your patience and support.
