A quick update on the bowls over the weekend—some fantastic results for our newer bowlers. The Region Singles were played on Saturday and Sunday, with six players progressing to Sunday morning. In the Senior Singles at Guildford, both Gerard Harkins and Col Lees won their morning games; Gerard secured a 25-22 victory against Keith Smith from Toongabbie, while Col won 25-21 against Mohan Lal. Unfortunately, both players were defeated in their section semi-finals in the afternoon. Nevertheless, they should be proud of their efforts representing the club!

Also at Guildford, in the Open Singles, Darryn Lethlean competed in a very tough field. Unfortunately, Darryn was defeated on Sunday morning, but well done to him for making it through to that stage.

Over at Castle Hill on Sunday morning, we hosted the second day's play of the Reserve Singles, featuring Toby Hughes, Mick Chadwick, Damian Armitage, and Ross Rochow. Unfortunately, Ross was narrowly defeated early in the morning, finishing his game from the previous day with a 20-25 loss to Julie Lovejoy. On the other hand, Damian, Toby, and Mick all recorded wins in their section semi-finals, progressing through to the finals in the afternoon.

Damian then faced Tim Mitchell from Wenty, with both players trading shots throughout the game, keeping the crowd thoroughly entertained. Unfortunately, Damian was defeated 19-25 in the end, though it was still a tremendous effort to reach the section final. Meanwhile, on the green, Mick and Toby took early leads in their respective games. Mick finished his match quickly with a 25-5 win, while Toby's game saw a back-and-forth battle, trading shots well into the teens. Toby found himself down 22-24, but with some excellent drawing ability on the last end, he clinched victory 25-24.

Massive congratulations to both Mick and Toby, who now progress to the semi-finals on 21st September at Merrylands Bowling Club. I’m sure you’ll have the full support of the club members on the day!
