Firstly, huge congratulations to the champions of the Lohman Triples and Men's Club Pairs!
Saturday witnessed an intense final showdown in the Lohman Triples, featuring two evenly matched teams. The competition was fierce, and both sides gave their all on the green. Ultimately, victory belonged to the triumphant trio of Dean Nethercott, Phil Silk, and Dave Bremner, who clinched the win 20-19 in a nail-biting final end. A hearty round of applause to Isabel Speirs, Peter Squire, and Col O'Connell for their outstanding performance in reaching the final and delivering a game of exceptional quality.
Sunday's excitement reached its peak with an eagerly awaited showdown between two seasoned and formidable teams in the Men's Club Pairs. Displaying their skill and experience, both teams treated spectators to a thrilling match deserving of the occasion. Every element worthy of a legendary final was present in the game. Following an intense contest, Roger Newman and Paul Bryan clinched victory in a thrilling extra-end battle against Tony and Kyle Martinez. Congratulations to both teams for their remarkable journey to the final and for delivering such an unforgettable performance.
Wrapping up the championship highlights from the weekend, we witnessed an exhilarating showdown in the Women’s Pairs semi-final. Pam Lowe and Lan Lim faced off against Lori Singh and Joy Lees in a thrilling contest. Pam and Lan surged ahead with a commanding lead in the middle stages, reaching a formidable 20-9 advantage over their opponents. However, Lori and Joy staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, forcing the game into an extra end. In a stunning conclusion, Pam and Lan thwarted the fairy tale ending by clinching victory in the extra end, securing a hard-fought 25-24 win!
Last Friday night, our Division 2 Blue team engaged in a crucial match against Toongabbie, vying for the top position in section one. The game witnessed a back-and-forth battle, initially favouring Castle Hill before Toongabbie staged a late comeback. Nevertheless, Castle Hill's lead proved insurmountable. The final tally reflected Castle Hill's victory, concluding at 46 (4) to 36 (1), securing their berth in the forthcoming semi-final this Wednesday night. Join us at Merrylands Bowling Club at 6 PM to cheer on the team and propel them towards the final! Your support would be greatly appreciated.
As for this coming week at the club we have the first round of Men’s club triples on Sunday as well as all the normal social throughout, so if you’re around definitely come up for a game!
