Handy Hints
- For a smooth delivery release the bowl in close
proximity to the ground. When the bowl is dropped from
a higher level it is known as dumping. It will reduce
the speed of your delivery and make the greenkeeper angry
!
- The greens are precious ! Please keep this in
mind at all times. Refrain from sitting on the ditch area
and ensure flat soled shoes are worn. Please ask if you
need clarification.
- It is advised that bowlers stand on the banks
at all times, other than when they or their direct opponent
are bowling. This reduces conjestion at the end of the
green.
- The skipper is the captain of the team. It is
advised tat you change your team around weekly to enable
players to experience all positions in the team.
- Lawn bowls do not run straight. Their bias (which
will vary depending on the make) determines how far the
bowls will curve in. As a general rule aim for the orange
pegs !
